Masel Tov Cocktail

directed by Arkadij Khaet and Mickey Paatzsch

followed by a conversation about the film facilitated by Jenny Kaminer, Professor of Russian and Sven-Erik Rose, Professor of German and Comparative Literature Russian-Jewish-German teenager Dima confronts an array of antisemitic and philosemitic attitudes on the part of Germans; superficial ideas that Jews and Arabs have about each other; pressures from his Jewish family to marry a Jewish woman. Dima’s particular positionality as a Russian Jewish youth in Germany complicates ossified notions of Jews, Germans, and the relationship between them in myriad ways.

This time the "book" is a film, but the bagels are still bagels! Come for the food, stay for the short film & discussion.
