Join the Avanza Rising Scholars Undergraduate Council
The UC Davis Avanza Initiative is dedicated to addressing institutional barriers to student access, with a particular focus on low-income students. For the 2026–2027 academic year, Avanza is seeking undergraduate students to serve on the Avanza Rising Scholars Undergraduate Council (ARSUC).
To improve student experience and access at UC Davis, the council will advise the Avanza Director on relevant issues, including recruitment, retention, classroom experiences, experiential learning, research opportunities, and campus climate.
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Submit a completed application
- Be registered as full-time, degree-seeking students for the Fall 2026 quarter and be projected to maintain this status throughout the 2026–2027 academic year
- Demonstrate an interest in serving and advocating for low-income students
- Commit to 1–2 hours per month to attend council meetings (some in-person) and engage with other council-related activities
Members of the Avanza Rising Scholars Undergraduate Council will have the opportunity to meaningfully contribute to university policy discussions, develop leadership skills, and build their professional networks.
Application materials are due on December 4, 2026. Questions about the application process should be sent to the Avanza Director, Dr. Mayté Frías at [email protected].
