The Evolving Nature of Digital Accessibility
Stay up to date with university regulations, digital requirements, and more as the landscape changes!
UC Davis employees who create or manage online content must comply with new federal accessibility regulations beginning April–May 2026. This applies to all digital materials—including websites, documents, videos, social media posts, and third-party tools—and requires adherence to WCAG 2.1 Level A and AA standards to ensure content is accessible to everyone, including individuals with disabilities who rely on assistive technologies.
To support compliance, UC Davis is offering trainings, guides, and office hours for faculty and staff, covering key accessibility practices such as adding captions, transcripts, alt text, proper document formatting, and other adjustments that improve usability for all. These resources are designed to help content creators make their materials fully inclusive and accessible.
